So I've been sitting at my computer all day today reading random blogs that belong to professional photographers. They all have a lot of the same experiences. All of them are very successful in their field, having done portraits for celebrities, and big advertisement campaigns, blah blah blah. All of them talk about the competition element that exist in the photography industry, and how bottom feeders steadily continue to drive the price down of the work that they do. Which brings me to my next point.
People always ask me, why in the world would you study Business Economics, and then go into photography, isn't that backwards? Shouldn't you have gone to art school? My answer to them is no. Why would I? Is photography not a business? Are you not selling a product? To some, all photography is, is art. But, to an enterprising young mind such as my own, photography is not only art but a product waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. I would say in my experience so far, that 90% of this photo stuff is business. So will I put my degree to good use? I most certainly will. Taking photos and earning $$$$$ beats sitting at a desk in an office earning $$$$$$ anyday.
